Flutino optimizes the physics of human whistling, which are not yet fully understood. Its dimensions, obtained after many computer-designed prototypes, are very precise. The result is an instrument that covers nearly two octaves and reaches over 100 dB.
Flutino is played entirely through breath and mouth movement, so the hands are free. Players do not need to stop for breath because it sounds the same blowing and drawing in air. There is an immediate connection between player and flutino. As natural as breathing or hearing the wind. Just place the flutino between your lips and relax making music without thinking about it.
How come it wasn't invented before? And how come walruses can whistle but so many people can't? The answer is the same for both: the "sweet spot" is very small for a human. Flutino is helping folks to learn this skill by making the best lip geometry for them. The precise dimensions that make Flutino work were obtained by painstaking experimentation with many 3D models that got the design progressively closer to the very narrow optimum. |
